With the great master of the Spanish Renaissance, a truly golden age of polyphony came to light. They knew how to incorporate in a mainly French and Flemish context the tracks left by the Moores and Muslim cultures, so present in medieval Spain.
With Fahmi Alqhai, one of the greatest virtuoso of viola da gamba, and his Accademia del Piacere, an important ensemble of the Spanish early music, Constantinople started a musical journey between Iberian cultures and those from Perse and Central Asia, rediscovering music with sumptuous colours and a rare aesthetical richness.

Event Details
In this creation, Constantinople dedicates itself to the work of Dimitrie Cantemir, an emblematic figure bridging European and Middle Eastern cultures at the dawn of the 18th century.
Event Details
Cantemir was not only a prince and scholar, but also a renowned composer and diplomat and transcended borders and centuries with his talent. His musical contributions are invaluable: his compositions are gems of Ottoman music, showcasing the empire’s richness and diversity at its peak. Moreover, Cantemir’s meticulous compilation and transcription work in the monumental “Edvar-i Musiki” stand unparalleled. With over 350 meticulously transcribed instrumental pieces, Cantemir’s collection offers a comprehensive insight into Ottoman and Middle Eastern music of the 16th and 17th centuries, making it a crucial resource for understanding these musical traditions.
Under the artistic direction of Kiya Tabassian, Constantinople approaches Cantemir’s treasure trove with erudite precision and creative flair. By interpreting Cantemir’s compositions alongside works by his contemporaries like the French Marin Marais and the Italian Antonio Bertali, the musicians infuse new vitality into these centuries-old pieces, rendering them vivid and tangible for modern audiences.

Event Details
Marco Beasley, a specialist in Renaissance music, joins forces with Constantinople to celebrate, in music, a bridge that Leonardo da Vinci designed in 1502. The longest and boldest bridge of the time, it was to span the Bosporus and thus link Europe and Asia. But it was never built; the plans, however, were preserved in the artist’s archives. Five centuries later, Tabassian re-imagines this bridge with the help of 16th- and 17th-century works from the manuscript archives of the national libraries of Istanbul and Florence.

Even if more than 600 years separates the life of John-Sebastien Bach (1685 -1715) and Omar Khayam (1048 -1131), these two genius were made to meet each other. Their visions of the world, as a perfect match of mathematics mastery and a super high level of spirituality, bring these two men in a delightful dialogue and traces a clear path to the sublime. In this program Constantinople brings these two artists into a dialogue, where the sacred and spirituality transcend borders. For this new creation Constantinople proposes arrangements of some of the most beautiful spiritual songs and arias of JS Bach in dialogue with poems of Omar Khayyam sung in Persian and responding to Bach’s songs.
