    ABOUT GUY ROSS

Following his studies in lute performance at Laval University, Guy Ross specialized in vocal and instrumental music of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. Serious research led him to develop ideas and a playing technique based on the study of treatises and repertoire from the fourteenth to the seventeenth centuries. He has polished his interpretation of medieval music through work with Benjamin Baby and Barbara Thornton of the Ensemble Sequential. He also honed his basso continuo skills with harpsichordist Hendrick Bouman and lutenist Jakob Lindberg. Guy Ross has developed a deep interest in the ‘ud and in improvisation, which have assisted him in his exploration of classical Turkish music and Oriental maqams.
